In the spring of 2022, Healthy Roots Collaborative received funding from the VT Foodbank through their Vermonters Feeding Vermonters program. With this funding, Healthy Roots purchased produce and meat from five farms in our region to support two programs, the Northwest Farmacy CSA and the Migrant Household Food Boxes. These programs are made possible through our partnerships with the NOTCH Richford Health Center, NorthWest Family Foods, and Bridges to Health. The food purchased with Vermonters Feeding Vermonters funding was distributed to 41, different households giving them the ability to have regular access to high quality, local, culturally appropriate food. Throughout the two programs (Migrant Household Food Boxes and Northwest Farmacy CSA), participants gave feedback sharing their appreciation for the “beautiful produce” they received and also how they used it to prepare more meals they enjoy at home. We want to say a big thank you to the farms who participated: Sandy Bottom Farm, West Farm, Pomykala Farm, Creamery Bridge Farm and Hunger Moon Farm.
